PLEASE CHECK CAREFULLY THAT YOUR STORY MEETS ALL THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPETITION
RULES & ELIGIBILITY
Entering the competition is simple. The rules are:
- Entrants must not previously have received any payment for publication of prose fiction, i.e. short stories or novels, whether published in books or magazines. You may enter if you have only received payment in the form of a competition prize, but please do not submit the same story that won the prize;
- All stories must be in English;
- Entries must be sent on the online entry form;
- Stories should be suitable for a mainstream adult audience and between 2,000 - 4,000 words in length;
- Writers must hold the copyright in all entries;
- Anthologies will be published by Baineth Publications. For the purpose of protecting the anthology, Baineth Publications will place a copyright notice on the book layout but writers will retain full control of their own stories. If they wish to publish or sell them elsewhere, they will simply need to notify Baineth Publications;
- Stories can be submitted at any time and will be considered for the next available anthology;
- You may enter as many times as you like, but no more than one story by a single author will be included in any one anthology.
CLOSING DATE
The closing date for Anthology 4 is midnight (GMT) on 31 March 2009. Thereafter, competitions will run every 6 months.PRIZE
** PLEASE NOTE ** After careful consideration, we
have decided to reduce
the cash prize for the short story competition to
£250 (GBP).
Feedback from our users suggests the cash is less important than the
opportunity to be published. This reduction will free up more funds to
go towards other projects
which we are developing, so more writers will benefit.
Unfortunately, once an advert is loose on the internet, there's no
controlling where it goes so if you came to this site from an
out-of-date link that
said otherwise, please drop us an email to admin@invisibleink.org.uk
saying where you saw it, so we can amend it.
The winner is decided by readers' votes and will receive:
- A cash prize to the value of £250 (GBP) , and
- An option from Baineth Publications to publish a full-length work (novel or short story collection) within the 12 months following the close of voting. The precise terms of such publication will be subject to discussion between the writer and publisher at the time.
