Entries are currently being accepted for Invisible Ink 4.

Stories can be submitted via the website, using the entry form provided. Please read the full rules & eligibility details before entering.

Unlike most competitions, we do not charge a fee to enter as we know, from our own experience, that this can discourage (or even prevent) some writers from entering.

Also unlike other writing competitions, we do not have a panel of 'celebrity' judges to decide the winner. From all the stories received, we select a shortlist (around 24 stories, depending on their length). Stories on the shortlist are published anonymously in an anthology, which is available to buy, just like any other book.

Each anthology will be available for 6 months from the date of publication and voting will continue for a further one month after that - so for example, for the anthology published on 1st December 2007, voting will remain open until 30th June 2008.

Anyone who buys the book can vote on their favourite story, so the winner is decided by the votes of the reading public. Since these are the people who will go on to buy your books in future, you will have a ready-made audience out there.

In addition, readers can leave comments on each story, which is useful feedback for the writers and often interesting discussion amongst the readers.

After the close of voting, details of the writers in the anthology will be revealed on the website. As well as a cash prize, the winning writer will have the opportunity to publish a full-length prose work (short story collection or novel).
